This file describes how the cleaner.exe
program works. It assumes prior knowledge
of the ESMS package, and mainly useful
to league administrators rather than to
managers, so you better read esmshelp.txt
and admhelp.txt before reading this document.

1 WHAT DOES CLEANER.EXE DO ?
-----------------------------

1.1 Generally speaking, cleaner is an end-of-season
updating program. After a season ends, there is some
"cleaning" work to do with the rosters and it is the
responsibility of this program.

1.2 For now, cleaner can do 2 things:

1.2.1 Adds 1 to all players ages. In ESMS each player
has age, which grows once per year. A league can decide
that even if their season lasts only a few months,
a "year" passes in the end of each season.

1.2.2 Resets all players' stats to 0. What are stats ?
Stats are everything that a player performed during the
season, ie. goals scored, key tackles, games, assists
etc. All this should be reset towards the new season.
Note: The program asks whether to reset the Suspension
and Injury stats, as these could be carried over to the
new season (depends on what the league decides).

2 HOW DOES CLEANER.EXE WORK ?
------------------------------

2.1 To run cleaner.exe on a certain amount of
teams, list all the roster names in teams.dir,
and make sure all these rosters will be actually
present in the directory. Place all these files
(teams.dir + rosters) in one directory with the
cleaner.exe program. Now you can run it.

2.2 When you run the program, it gives you a few
options, you basically specify what you want it
to do with the rosters (read section 1.2 for
explanation of what the program can do)

2.3 If everything went OK, the rosters will be
updated. In any way, it is highly recommended to
always have a back up to the rosters.
